TP'S INTERNATIONAL SKILL SEARCH

TalentPoint has global reach and we have launched an initiative to keep connected, and bridge distances and timezones, to enable key markets have access to the New Zealand ICT employment market. We thought there had to be an easier way for international ICT talent to access opportunities, rather than a website or two, and some early morning phone calls. That is why we are reaching out and touching the market directly.

South Africa

The first stop we are making in 2011-2012 is in the Great Republic of South Africa. South Africa has a strong reputation for talented ICT technologists and professionals and we thought what better way to source, speak, and connect to this target market than to enjoy a visit and get out there promoting opportunities with New Zealand's strongest ICT companies.

How Talent Point can help

New Zealand has an extensive array of immigration policies (known as Instructions) to allow a person to work in New Zealand. These range from working holiday scheme visas that allow young people from select countries to work in New Zealand for any employer, to visas to authorise work for employers on short-term contracts.

Do I qualify to work in NZ?

How you qualify for a work visa will depend on your circumstances. Most contractors will require an offer of employment or a short-term assignment with a New Zealand employer.

The New Zealand employer will often need to satisfy the Government that there are no New Zealand workers available to do the work, unless the job is in an industry area where the New Zealand Government has identified a labour shortage.

What visa should I select?

The New Zealand Immigration’s website (www.immigration.co.nz) is where you will find a large amount of information on the various types of entry visas, and other requirements, like health and character, that you will need to meet before you can enter and work in New Zealand.

Information about immigration to New Zealand is publicly available. Lodging an application is time consuming and Government fees are expensive, so you want to ensure you get it right.

We strongly recommend you get professional advice. We have a strong network of professional immigration advisers and lawyers who can assist.

Who can assist me with my visa?

It is important to be aware that providing immigration advice is now a licensed, recognised profession in New Zealand.

Anyone providing immigration advice about New Zealand immigration matters must be licensed, unless they are exempt such as lawyers.  Immigration New Zealand will not accept applications or requests from unlicensed advisers.

We take your visa application seriously, so we have partnered with Malcolm Pacific Limited (www.malcolmpacific.co.nz) and Turner Hopkins (www.turnerhopkins.co.nz).

Malcolm Pacific is a licensed immigration adviser that can provide immigration advice and services to our customers

Turner Hopkins is a full-service law firm that can provide immigration advice, as well as legal services in areas of employment, purchasing property, establishing a business in New Zealand, tax structuring, and asset protection.

If you would like TalentPoint to arrange to sponsor your visa, your application can be processed by either Malcolm Pacific or Turner Hopkins. Both will supply a service direct to you, assisting you from the beginning to the end of the application process.

Is TalentPoint able to arrange visa sponsorship?

Yes, TalentPoint is able to assist in sponsoring your work visa for the length of the contract that has been offered.  This means little to no work for the end client (as they often do not wish to be involved in visa requirements). We also have an international contingent workforce management partner that has extensive experience in this area.

How does the process work?

If you have the requisite skills, you need to decide whether to join TalentPoint and work in New Zealand. Next you need to get immigration advice for yourself and any accompanying family members. The immigration process can then begin. You, TalentPoint, and its partners will complete the necessary application forms and gather documents needed for your application. Once these processes are complete the application can be submitted to the New Zealand government  to be processed so your visa can be issued.

What are the visa and immigration fees?

Our immigration partners  will conduct a full assessment to ensure both parties are fairly and properly informed about the immigration issues. Assessments are personal and professional. They incur no cost or obligation.

Our immigration partners will provide you with an estimate, initially based on the contractors individual application, where an approximate price for a straight forward application is NZ $1750 + GST. TalentPoint will meet half of this application cost up to the value of $1000. Please note GST will not be chargeable where the candidate is applying for the visa outside of New Zealand. TalentPoint will provide the immigration advisers or lawyers with the necessary documentation needed from us as the sponsor.
